I love what you did for Shrove Tuesday. You have inspired me to go beyond my own traditions.

I am from the UK and it is traditional to have pancakes on Shrove Tuesday. So this year, I chose to make them in my Texas house. Served with opwdered sugar and freshly squeezed lemon. Think crepes not pancakes though!

Now, on Good Friday we have Hot Cross Buns with our afternoon tea. I shall be making those too......

I posted the recipe for the pancakes among other foolishness on the blog - link attached and repeated here.

Hi Catherine - my sister lives in New Orleans and told me that when you buy a king cake at the bakery the baby comes separately, so no worries about the kids eating it! You can just leave it out.

I actually put two babies in mine -- one for each of my girls. But they are 7 and 4 and they knew the babies were in there.

Meeting up -- that's not scary! That's a great idea. We'll have to do coffee sometime. In March I'm coming out of my self-imposed seclusion and trying to get better connected locally. Would love to meet you too :)

Your king cake is BEAUTIFUL. I've in the past considered buying one online from a place in NOLA that does that. But then, I have little kids and worry that they'll eat the baby. Does yours have a baby? I make fantastic gumbo if you want to invite me over for next year's Fat Tuesday. I've been trying to think of a way to meet you :)

That sounded much scarier than intended.
